Characterization of variability in 2-dimensional particle geometry via 3D structured light scanning

چکیده

In the characterization of particle morphology via 2D digital image processing, acquisition needs to be done in proper ways. Otherwise, resulting parameters are significantly influenced by procedures. This research characterizes potential variations that can mislead interpretation such as sphericity, roundness, and regularity indices depending on a projection angle at which is taken. Besides, compared Wadell’s “true sphericity” evaluated using 3D model obtained structured light scanning technology. The variance high, producing approximately more than 0.5 deviance particles, definition mineral parameters, angles. demonstrated this could provide additional insight considering indices.

ENGN 2911 I: 3D Photography and Geometry Processing Assignment 2: Structured Light for 3D Scanning

The goal of this assignment is to build a 3D scanner using one or more digital cameras and a single projector. While the “desktop scanner” [2] implemented in the previous assignment is inexpensive, it has limited practical utility. The scanning process requires manual manipulation of the stick, and the time required to sweep the shadow plane across the scene limits the system to reconstructing ...

Efficient multiple phase shift patterns for dense 3D acquisition in structured light scanning

Although phase shifts (PS) are frequently used to acquire colored surfaces of static objects, especially when acquisition time is not critical, the periodic nature of relative (wrapped) PS maps makes it necessary to deal with the issue of phase unwrapping. Consequently, multiple phase shifts (MPS) have been widely used as an alternative, but this usually involves a large number of different PS ...

Low-cost 3d Laser Scanning in Air or Water Using Self-calibrating Structured Light

In-situ calibration of structured light scanners in underwater environments is time-consuming and complicated. This paper presents a self-calibrating line laser scanning system, which enables the creation of dense 3D models with a single fixed camera and a freely moving hand-held cross line laser projector. The proposed approach exploits geometric constraints, such as coplanarities, to recover ...

3DUNDERWORLD-SLS: An Open-Source Structured-Light Scanning System for Rapid Geometry Acquisition

Recently, there has been an increase in the demand of virtual 3D objects representing real-life objects. A plethora of methods and systems have already been proposed for the acquisition of the geometry of real-life objects ranging from those which employ active sensor technology, passive sensor technology or a combination of various techniques. In this paper we present the development of a 3D s...

Determining Surface Geometry Using Structured Light

A structured light system provides a dense sampling of 3D coordinates from visible surfaces in a scene. This paper compares several methods for determining the principle frame, Gaussian curvature, and mean curvature at each visible surface point from this data. The principle frame, etc, parameterize a model which completely characterizes the local surface geometry. Given the local surface model...
